-In May of 2006, the U.S. Turf Company made a critical decision as to the future direction of our company. Already an established residential landscape and putting green company, the decision was confirmed as we entered the synthetic sports world as a designer, manufacturer and installer of synthetic athletic fields.
-For two years, we researched existing products, systems, and materials and we questioned everything. And we mean everything. Why was a company using a particular product? Why was the height of the grass this long? Why was the infill material made out of recycled tires? Why is the grass green? We figured this last one out then we saw the Boise State field and had to question it again. Anyway…
-In order to design a superior athletic field, one that copied real grass beyond that of all others, we needed to know the direction the entire sports world was headed in regards to the athletes who would be playing on these surfaces. Athletes, as a whole, are getting bigger, stronger, faster and are doing so at an earlier age. High school football programs now have the size of many of the NCAA Division 1 programs did in the 1970’s.
Overall, the most distinguishing characteristic in the advancement of athletes in any sport has been the proliferation in the desire and design of SPEED
